US Open ATP: Alex Michelsen vs Federico Cina

Game context
Alex Michelsen enters the US Open first-round matchup as a heavy favorite against qualifier Federico Cina, reflecting his No. 45 ranking, superior hard-court experience, and recent North American swing results that include wins over higher-ranked opponents. The American, playing on home soil at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, holds a strong main-draw hard-court record while Cina, a 19-year-old Italian ranked No. 181, has posted just a 1-2 mark in ATP hard-court main draws despite a solid Challenger title earlier in 2026. Cina advanced through qualifying with three victories but faces short rest and a surface that historically favors Michelsen’s game. No head-to-head exists, leaving recent form and physical freshness as key variables in this outdoor hard-court encounter.
