The substantial ranking gap and Grand Slam pedigree heavily shape trader consensus around Medvedev in this US Open second-round hard-court matchup. The No. 8 seed and 2021 champion arrives with straight-sets momentum from his opening win over Gaston, aiming to stabilize form after early exits in recent events. Gorzny, the 22-year-old American wildcard and recent University of Texas standout ranked No. 731, enters on a career high after a marathon five-set debut victory that included saving five match points against Collignon. Their first meeting underscores Medvedev’s serve and return advantages on this surface, though the home-crowd wildcard’s recent resilience adds minor uncertainty to an otherwise lopsided implied probability.
