US Open ATP: Jesper de Jong vs Francesco Passaro
Francesco Passaro622
Jesper de Jong260Game context
Jesper de Jong, ranked around No. 100 with a career-high of 71, enters this US Open first-round hard-court match against qualifier Francesco Passaro at No. 207. De Jong holds a 2-0 head-to-head edge, though both prior meetings occurred on clay, including a five-set win at Roland Garros in 2025. Passaro arrives in strong form after sweeping three qualifying matches in straight sets on the same surface, while de Jong's 2026 main-draw record sits near .400 with limited hard-court success this season. The matchup features comparable ages and right-handed baselines, but de Jong's deeper Grand Slam experience and higher ranking position him as the slight favorite in trader consensus. Weather delays or fatigue from Passaro's qualifying schedule could influence the outcome on outdoor hard courts.
