Andrey Rublev enters this US Open second-round matchup on hard courts as the higher-ranked player at No. 24 but arrives fatigued after a grueling five-set comeback against Otto Virtanen that lasted over three hours and included saving a match point. The Russian has shown inconsistency recently, dropping outside the top 20 and losing several matches to lower-ranked opponents on the North American swing. In contrast, 21-year-old Spaniard Daniel Mérida Aguilar, ranked No. 39 and on an upward trajectory after claiming the Umag title and reaching the Montreal quarterfinals, has posted strong results on hard courts, remaining undefeated against non-top-20 players during this stretch while demonstrating efficient serving and baseline consistency. Their first career meeting pits Rublev’s experience against Mérida’s momentum, with trader pricing reflecting a competitive implied probability favori
