Hanne Vandewinkel650Game context
Hanne Vandewinkel (WTA ~77-81) faces Karolina Pliskova (WTA ~56-57) in the US Open first round on hard courts, marking their first meeting. The 22-year-old Belgian enters with strong recent form, winning eight of her last ten matches and reaching a career-high ranking after multiple ITF/WTA 125 titles in 2026, though she holds just a 2-6 main-draw record and limited hard-court Grand Slam experience. Pliskova, a 34-year-old former world No. 1 with deep US Open pedigree including a 2016 final, arrives on a two-match losing streak after early exits in Toronto and Cincinnati despite a solid 21-12 seasonal mark. Trader consensus reflects a near-even matchup, balancing Vandewinkel’s momentum and youth against Pliskova’s superior hard-court history and serve.
