US Open ATP: Luca Van Assche vs Cameron Norrie

Game context
Cameron Norrie enters the US Open first-round matchup against Luca Van Assche as the clear market favorite, reflecting his higher ranking, seeding, and 3-1 head-to-head edge that includes a pair of hard-court wins. The 31-year-old Briton arrives with a 20-18 record in 2026 and strong recent hard-court results across Montreal and Los Cabos, though his best US Open run remains a fourth round from 2022. Van Assche, the 22-year-old Frenchman ranked No. 40, has climbed rapidly with five titles this season, including the Quebec City Challenger the week before the Open, but enters off a straight-sets loss in Winston-Salem. Both players post 7-3 records over their last ten matches, with the hard-court surface and best-of-five format highlighting Norrie’s experience advantage in a closely contested opener.
