US Open ATP: Alex Molcan vs Benjamin Bonzi
Benjamin Bonzi1
Alex Molcan2Game context
**Benjamin Bonzi enters the US Open first-round matchup against Alex Molcan on outdoor hard courts with stronger recent surface-specific momentum after reaching the Winston-Salem semifinals in late August, where he posted multiple wins on hard including against players ranked in the 50s-70s.** Molcan, ranked 86 to Bonzi’s 97, has not played a completed hard-court match since Wimbledon in July and retired from an early-August clay challenger, leaving questions about his match sharpness after a solid clay swing that included Umag semifinals and Kitzbuhel quarterfinals. The players have no prior head-to-head record, and both hold comparable career hard-court win rates near 45-50 percent with limited US Open success beyond the third round. Bonzi’s fresher hard-court preparation and recent results shape the primary edge reflected in trader positioning for this best-of-five encounter.
