US Open ATP: Zizou Bergs vs Carlos Taberner

Zizou Bergs6362Game context
Zizou Bergs enters the US Open first-round matchup as the clear favorite against Carlos Taberner, driven by a substantial ranking gap and recent form on hard courts. The Belgian, seeded 31st and ranked No. 37, reached a career-high of No. 33 in 2026 after capturing his first ATP title at Eastbourne on grass and advancing to the third round at Wimbledon. Taberner, ranked No. 406 and relying on a protected ranking, has seen his standing drop sharply from a career-high of No. 83, with limited recent success on outdoor hard courts and most activity on clay challengers. The two have no prior head-to-head history, but Bergs’ superior serve consistency, return pressure, and Grand Slam experience create a wide implied probability edge for the higher-ranked player in this best-of-five encounter.
