Brandon Nakashima344Game context
Brandon Nakashima enters this US Open second-round clash as the clear favorite against fellow American Alex Michelsen, buoyed by a strong hard-court summer that included a Montreal final and semifinals in Washington and Cincinnati. Ranked No. 17 and seeded 16th, Nakashima improved to 32-17 on the year with dominant recent wins, including a straight-sets first-round rout of Sebastian Baez. Michelsen, ranked No. 46, has posted respectable hard-court results (around 22-9) and also advanced comfortably in his opener, but faces a higher level of opposition and lacks the same depth in recent Masters events. The pair has no prior head-to-head, adding uncertainty to an otherwise form-driven matchup on outdoor hard courts. Trader consensus reflects Nakashima’s edge while acknowledging Michelsen’s potential to extend the contest.
