US Open, Qualification WTA: Moyuka Uchijima vs Polona Hercog
Polona Hercog33
Moyuka Uchijima66Game context
Uchijima, the second seed ranked No. 99 with a career-high of No. 47, faces No. 233 Hercog in this US Open qualifying first-round match on hard courts. The 25-year-old Japanese player brings recent hard-court exposure from Toronto and Cincinnati plus a strong April final at the Saint-Malo 125, while the 35-year-old Slovenian relies on a 23-15 2026 record built mostly on clay. Their lone prior meeting ended in Uchijima’s favor in 2024. Trader consensus reflects Uchijima’s ranking edge, age advantage, and hard-court suitability over Hercog’s veteran experience, though the veteran’s competitive season leaves room for extended rallies or fatigue factors to influence the outcome.
