Elina Svitolina enters this US Open first-round matchup as a heavy favorite against Solana Sierra, with trader consensus reflecting her No. 9 ranking, strong hard-court results this season, and proven Grand Slam pedigree including a prior semifinal run in New York. The Ukrainian holds a 41-14 record in 2026 and remains efficient in major openers despite a recent ankle concern that forced a Cincinnati walkover. Sierra, ranked around No. 87, has dropped four straight matches on the North American swing and has yet to win at the US Open. Their first career meeting on hard courts favors the higher-ranked player’s consistency and return game, though Sierra’s occasional big-match resilience could influence set totals or game spreads if Svitolina’s movement is limited.
