Martin Damm4662Game context
Frances Tiafoe, the No. 11 seed and world No. 12, enters this US Open first-round matchup on Louis Armstrong Stadium as the clear market favorite against No. 92 Martin Damm. Tiafoe’s superior ranking, experience reaching multiple US Open semifinals, and strong recent hard-court form underpin trader consensus, while their sole prior meeting—a four-set 2025 US Open victory for Tiafoe—reinforces expectations of another competitive but winnable encounter. Damm, the 6’8” left-hander, brings momentum from a straight-sets upset of Daniil Medvedev in Winston-Salem and a massive serve that has produced high ace totals, offering realistic upset potential in best-of-five sets on home hard courts. Market pricing reflects Tiafoe’s edge in consistency and return play against Damm’s rising but less proven level.
