Polina Kudermetova13Game context
Polina Kudermetova enters this US Open women's qualifying first-round match as the top seed with a 2026 record of 35-18 and a current WTA ranking near 96, reflecting stronger recent results on the tour including deep runs in events like Washington. Linda Fruhvirtova, ranked around 179 with a 16-20 mark this season, has shown inconsistent form marked by multiple recent losses on hard courts and limited success in building momentum after earlier career promise. Both players compete on outdoor hard courts, where Kudermetova's higher ranking and experience in high-stakes qualifying draws give her the edge in the consensus view, though Fruhvirtova's youth and occasional breakthrough potential remain factors in a best-of-three format.
