US Open, Qualification ATP: Pol Martin Tiffon vs Tom Gentzsch

Game context
Tom Gentzsch holds a clear edge entering this US Open qualifying first-round match on outdoor hard courts, sitting at a career-high ATP ranking of 145 with recent points gains that earned him the 29th seed in the draw. The 22-year-old German has shown stronger recent form on the Challenger circuit and limited main-tour exposure compared with Pol Martin Tiffon, a 27-year-old Spaniard ranked around 209 whose peak came near 197. Their first career meeting favors Gentzsch on paper due to the ranking gap and seeding, though Tiffon’s experience in prior Grand Slam qualifying rounds (including Wimbledon and French Open) provides some counterbalance on the fast surface. Schedule positioning on Court 13 and any late fitness updates could influence progression to the next qualifier round.
