Francesca Jones enters US Open qualifying as the clear favorite against Joanna Garland, buoyed by superior recent form and ranking. The British No. 104, a third seed in the draw, arrives after consecutive WTA 125 titles on clay and straight-sets wins over Nuria Brancaccio and a three-set victory over Mona Barthel in the first two qualifying rounds. Jones holds a career-high ranking of No. 65 and has captured nine of her last ten matches. Garland, ranked No. 201, advanced past Leyre Romero Gormaz and Priscilla Hon but carries a more mixed 5-5 record in her prior ten outings despite an earlier WTA 125 title in Canberra. The hard-court matchup marks their first meeting, with Jones favored by the wisdom of crowds reflecting her stronger hard-court results and momentum into the final qualifying stage.
