US Open WTA: Aoi Ito vs Oksana Selekhmeteva

Game context
Aoi Ito and Oksana Selekhmeteva meet in the US Open first round on outdoor hard courts at Court 15, with Selekhmeteva entering as the significantly higher-ranked player at No. 93 against Ito’s No. 369. Selekhmeteva arrives with momentum from a strong hard-court run that included a semifinal appearance at the preceding Philly Open, while Ito has posted a 12-20 record in 2026 and sits well below her career-high ranking. The pair’s only prior meeting came on hard courts in Toronto earlier this month, where Ito prevailed in three sets. Both players have limited recent Grand Slam experience, and the outcome hinges on whether Selekhmeteva’s superior ranking and current form overcome Ito’s demonstrated ability to compete in direct encounters on this surface.
