US Open WTA: Nikola Bartunkova vs Mayar Sherif

Game context
Nikola Bartunkova enters this US Open first-round matchup as the clear favorite against Mayar Sherif, driven by her higher WTA ranking near No. 38, superior hard-court results this summer, and youth at age 20. The Czech right-hander reached the Monterrey semifinals on hard courts with wins over higher-seeded players before falling to Elise Mertens, building momentum after strong showings in Toronto and Cincinnati. Sherif, ranked around No. 51 and aged 30, has posted solid clay results including an Iasi title but exited early in Monterrey and carries a limited hard-court record plus zero prior US Open main-draw victories. Surface transition, recent hard-court form, and ranking gap shape trader consensus on the outcome.
