US Open WTA: Paula Badosa vs Coco Gauff

Game context
Coco Gauff enters the second-round matchup at the 2026 US Open with strong momentum on hard courts, fresh off a Cincinnati title and a straight-sets first-round win over Zeynep Sonmez while showing improved serve consistency. Paula Badosa, ranked outside the top 80 after extended injury absences including recent nasal surgery, arrives with limited recent match play yet secured her opening victory over Daria Kasatkina despite a rain-delayed finish. Badosa holds a 5-3 head-to-head edge, including hard-court and grass wins over Gauff in the past 18 months, which traders weigh against Gauff’s superior current form, ranking, and home-crowd advantage in Arthur Ashe Stadium. The contest highlights Badosa’s ability to challenge top players when healthy against Gauff’s overall edge in recent results and physical readiness.
