Game context
Taylor Fritz enters the US Open second-round matchup as the clear favorite against Mattia Bellucci, backed by his No. 9 seeding, world ranking near No. 10, and strong hard-court record of 20-10 in 2026. The American advanced comfortably in straight sets over Darwin Blanch in round one while reaching three consecutive US Open quarterfinals and posting a 31-15 overall mark. Bellucci, ranked around No. 95, produced a dominant 6-4, 6-2, 6-0 opening win with 14 aces but faces a significant step up in competition. Home support, superior experience, and baseline power position Fritz to control the hard-court encounter on September 3.
