Game context

The St. Louis Cardinals (70-71) hold a clear edge over the Colorado Rockies (54-86) entering their September 4 matchup at Coors Field, driven by stronger overall roster depth and a favorable pitching matchup. Andre Pallante anchors the Cardinals' rotation with a 12-6 record and 3.57 ERA, while Ryan Feltner has posted a 5.84 ERA for Colorado. St. Louis remains within striking distance of the NL wild card despite a recent 4-6 stretch and the loss of shortstop Masyn Winn to a thumb fracture, whereas the Rockies sit last in the NL West with no postseason path. Coors Field's altitude typically elevates scoring for both offenses, but the Cardinals' superior road record (36-33) and recent head-to-head success against Colorado position them as the consensus favorite in trader pricing.
