Game context

Toronto Blue Jays enter their series at Kauffman Stadium at 70-71 and within a half-game of the final AL wild-card spot after winning two of three from the Guardians, including an 11-0 rout powered by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Recent rotation setbacks include Shane Bieber landing on the injured list, though Max Scherzer has delivered strong outings and Jameson Taillon is lined up for this matchup. Kansas City sits at 63-78 in last place in the AL Central with little playoff relevance, though young contributors like Jac Caglianone and Carter Jensen have shown power and rookie catcher Jensen has delivered timely hits. The Royals’ pitching staff has been inconsistent, with notable bullpen attrition, while the Blue Jays’ offense has heated up during their late push. Home-field factors at Kauffman and both clubs’ recent form shape trader views on the series outcome.
