Game context

The Pittsburgh Pirates enter as clear favorites against the San Francisco Giants at PNC Park due to their stronger home record (35-32) and recent three-game win streak capped by a dramatic 13-12 comeback victory on September 1, where Brandon Lowe delivered four hits including a home run. The Giants sit at 57-82 with a dismal 24-46 road mark, while the Pirates (68-71) rank among the NL's better offenses at .253 collectively. Starting pitchers Landen Roupp (8-13, 4.25 ERA) for San Francisco and Bubba Chandler (6-9, 4.26 ERA) or Jared Jones for Pittsburgh present comparable ERAs, but the venue and momentum tilt the implied probability toward Pittsburgh. Multiple injuries on both rosters add uncertainty, though core lineups remain intact for this midweek matchup.
