New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels

Game context
The New York Yankees enter this matchup with a 79-60 record and playoff positioning in the AL East, while the Los Angeles Angels sit at 53-86 and out of contention in the AL West. Cam Schlittler’s 12-6 mark and 2.09 ERA anchor a strong Yankees rotation, contrasting with Reid Detmers’ 4-8 record and 3.54 ERA for the Angels. Multiple absences on both sides—including Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton for New York plus several Angels starters on the IL—have shifted lineup responsibilities to players like Spencer Jones, Jazz Chisholm Jr., and Ben Rice. Recent form favors the Yankees, who have won five of six, against an Angels club that has dropped eight of nine. Home/road splits and bullpen depth remain secondary factors in this late-season interleague series.
