Athletics vs. Texas Rangers

Game context
The Athletics visit the Rangers on August 31 at Globe Life Field with Jacob deGrom (9-9, 4.21 ERA, 159 strikeouts) starting against Gage Jump (6-8, 4.69 ERA). Texas (67-70, second in AL West) holds a clear edge in recent form and home performance, while Oakland (53-84, last in the division) continues to play without key contributors including Shea Langeliers, Jacob Wilson, Nick Kurtz, and Tyler Soderstrom on the injured list. Both clubs carry significant roster absences, but the Rangers’ superior starting pitching and overall depth shape trader consensus around a strong home favorite. The series opener occurs amid Texas’s push for a playoff spot and the Athletics’ late-season rebuilding phase.
