Game context
The Chicago White Sox enter this AL Central matchup at Comerica Park holding a narrow division lead at 63-58, while the Detroit Tigers sit 3.5 games back at 60-62 and riding a hot streak that includes seven wins in their last 10 games. Troy Melton’s dominant 1.46 ERA and recent scoreless outings give Detroit a clear edge on the mound against left-hander Anthony Kay, whose 3.96 ERA reflects inconsistency since the All-Star break. Both clubs face injury challenges in the rotation and behind the plate, yet the Tigers’ home advantage and momentum have shaped trader consensus around a competitive but slightly favored home side. Recent series splits and divisional implications continue to influence implied probabilities for the outcome.
