Zsombor Piros and Christopher O’Connell meet in US Open qualifying round 3 on outdoor hard courts, with both players ranked inside the top 120 and seeded in the draw. O’Connell holds the slight ranking edge at No. 105 to Piros’s No. 118, along with greater main-draw experience and a career-high of No. 53, while Piros has posted stronger recent results at Challenger level and enters on a solid qualifying run that included straight-sets wins over Max Alcala Gurri and a three-set victory over Daniil Glinka. The head-to-head stands tied at 2-2, though all prior meetings occurred on clay. O’Connell’s recent hard-court exposure in the Cincinnati draw and his straight-sets qualifying wins position him as the more seasoned hard-court competitor, while Piros’s youth and consistent form in lower-tier events create a closely contested matchup on the faster surface.
