Winston-Salem Open: Ignacio Buse vs Benjamin Bonzi

Game context
Ignacio Buse enters the Winston-Salem Open semifinal as the higher-ranked player at No. 36 and third seed, riding momentum from his first ATP 500 title in Hamburg earlier in 2026 and three hard-court wins this week, including a three-set quarterfinal victory over Juan Manuel Cerundolo. The 22-year-old Peruvian, historically stronger on clay, is contesting his first hard-court semifinal at tour level. Benjamin Bonzi, ranked 109 but guaranteed a return to the top 100, has posted four straight wins here with efficient serving and straight-sets victories over Rinky Hijikata and Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarters. Their first meeting pits Buse’s recent breakthrough and athletic baseline game against Bonzi’s experience, heavier ball striking, and strong serving on outdoor hard courts. The match serves as a key tune-up ahead of the US Open for both players.
