US Open, Qualification WTA: Heather Watson vs Harriet Dart

Game context
Heather Watson and Harriet Dart, frequent doubles partners, meet in the decisive round of US Open 2026 women's singles qualifying on outdoor hard courts in New York. Watson, ranked around 445 at age 34, overcame Angela Fita Boluda 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(10-5) in a nearly three-hour battle on August 26, saving match points in a 10-point tiebreak after leading twice in the third set; she has not reached the main draw since 2021 and noted recent injury niggles and limited scheduling. Dart, ranked 131, rallied past 16-year-old Kristina Penickova 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 after dropping the opener. Watson holds a 2-1 head-to-head edge, with her last win coming in 2023, but Dart enters with stronger recent results and a sizable ranking advantage on a surface that suits both players' games.
