Game context

Mochizuki enters this US Open qualifying match as the clear favorite, holding an ATP ranking near 112-117 compared to Milavsky’s position around 306-316. The Japanese player’s recent fourth-round run at Wimbledon 2026, where he defeated higher seeds before falling to Jannik Sinner, underscores his experience on Grand Slam surfaces and ability to perform under pressure. Milavsky, an American climbing the rankings with a career-high singles mark achieved in August 2026, has shown promise in ITF and Challenger events but lacks equivalent main-tour depth or hard-court results against established opponents. On outdoor hard courts in New York, Mochizuki’s stronger serve-return game and prior major exposure shape trader consensus around his implied probability edge, though qualifier volatility remains a factor in first-round outcomes.
