Nicolai Budkov Kjaer53Game context
O'Connell enters this US Open qualifying second-round match on hard courts with stronger recent form, highlighted by a deep Cincinnati Masters run that included multiple wins before a straight-sets loss to Taylor Fritz. The Australian veteran, ranked around 105-129 with a career-high of 53, defeated Stefanos Sakellaridis in straight sets in his opener and brings greater experience and serve-return consistency. Budkov Kjaer, the 19-year-old Norwegian ranked near 149, advanced past Maks Kasnikowski in three sets but has posted mixed results across recent hard-court qualifiers. The matchup pits O'Connell's established baseline game and ranking edge against the young prospect's athletic potential in a best-of-three format where surface familiarity and recent momentum favor the veteran.
