US Open ATP: Rafael Jodar vs Thanasi Kokkinakis

Game context
Rafael Jodar enters this first-round US Open clash as the clear market favorite, riding an exceptional debut professional season that has lifted the 19-year-old Spaniard to world No. 13 after a rapid climb from outside the top 100. Jodar has posted strong hard-court results this summer, including a Washington final and Montreal semifinal, while showing comfort on the surface with consistent serving and baseline play. In contrast, Thanasi Kokkinakis, ranked around 412 and relying on a protected ranking, is managing a recent ankle injury sustained in Cincinnati that has limited practice and left him far from full fitness at age 30. The Australian veteran has described the situation as uncertain, with limited continuity and potential reliance on pain management, creating a significant gap in current form and physical readiness on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows.
