Juan Manuel Cerundolo and Ignacio Buse meet in the Winston-Salem Open quarterfinal on outdoor hard courts, a late-season ATP 250 warm-up for the US Open. Cerundolo, ranked 51, advanced after Sebastian Baez retired trailing 6-2 4-0 and carries momentum from a third-round run in Cincinnati plus a 7-5 hard-court record this season. Buse, the higher-ranked Peruvian at 36 with a career high near 31, reached this stage by outlasting Daniel Altmaier in two tight sets after earlier wins over Adam Walton. Cerundolo leads their head-to-head 2-0, though both prior matches occurred on clay; this is their first hard-court encounter. Buse holds limited main-draw hard experience at 2-4, while recent form and surface-specific metrics favor the Argentine in trader assessments of the matchup.
