US Open, Qualification WTA: Qinwen Zheng vs Clara Burel

Game context
Qinwen Zheng enters her US Open qualifying second-round match against Clara Burel on hard courts after a dominant 6-3, 6-2 opening win over compatriot You Xiaodi that ended a three-match losing streak and marked her first Grand Slam qualifying appearance since 2022. The former world No. 4 and 2024 Olympic gold medalist is playing pain-free following right elbow surgery last July, though her ranking has slipped to around No. 121 after extended time away. Burel, a former top-50 player now ranked No. 410, advanced past Ma Yexin and carries a history of hard-court upsets in majors, but faces a significant gap in recent elite experience and consistency against the higher-seeded Chinese player. The winner needs one more victory to reach the main draw.
