National Bank Open: Lanlana Tararudee vs Amanda Anisimova

Game context
Amanda Anisimova, the No. 8 seed and world No. 10, faces Thai qualifier Lanlana Tararudee in the second round of the National Bank Open on hard courts in Toronto. Anisimova brings superior power from the baseline and greater experience at WTA 1000 events, while defending points from a strong 2025 season that included a US Open final run. Tararudee enters with strong recent momentum, including a qualifying win over Qinwen Zheng and a first-round victory, compiling roughly 10 wins in her last 11 matches, but this marks their first meeting and she lacks the weapons to consistently counter Anisimova’s aggressive style. The hard-court surface favors the higher-ranked American’s groundstrokes and court coverage in what projects as a straightforward test of experience versus emerging form.
