Nadia Podoroska476Game context
Simona Waltert enters this US Open first-round hard-court matchup as the clear favorite based on her current WTA ranking of 89 and more consistent results against higher-level competition in 2026, while Nadia Podoroska sits at 449 after spending much of the season on the ITF circuit. Waltert reached the second round in Cincinnati with a win over Petra Marcinko before falling to Jessica Pegula and has shown reliable baseline play that translates to hard courts. Podoroska posted a 24-8 record this year but mostly at lower tiers, with a recent loss to Emiliana Arango in Cincinnati qualifying and limited recent success on outdoor hard. Their lone prior meeting came on clay in 2019, a Podoroska victory, leaving surface-specific form and current ranking gaps as the main drivers of trader consensus around an approximate 60% implied probability for Waltert.
