US Open WTA: Marta Kostyuk vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

Game context
Marta Kostyuk enters this US Open third-round match as the clear favorite against Ekaterina Alexandrova, backed by her career-best ranking of No. 11 and a dominant 2026 season that included semifinals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. The 24-year-old Ukrainian has won her first two matches in straight sets on hard courts, defeating Storm Hunter and Sloane Stephens with strong serving and break-point conversion. Alexandrova, ranked No. 19, holds a 2-0 head-to-head edge from prior encounters but arrives with a mixed 17-21 record this year and has needed three sets to advance past McCartney Kessler and Kimberly Birrell. The hard-court setting and Kostyuk’s recent momentum on outdoor surfaces favor the higher-ranked player, though Alexandrova’s experience in longer rallies could extend the contest if she maintains first-serve percentages.
