Ekaterine Gorgodze376Game context
Ekaterine Gorgodze and Katarzyna Kawa met in the first round of US Open women's singles qualifying on hard courts, a surface where both veterans have posted mixed career results. Gorgodze, ranked around 161, entered with strong momentum from a deep run at the W100 Landisville event on hard, where she secured multiple wins before a semifinal loss, while Kawa (No. 129) arrived after early exits in Cincinnati qualifying and limited hard-court success this season. At ages 34 and 33 respectively, both rely on consistent baseline play and experience rather than raw power, with limited direct history between them. Recent form, rest after summer clay and grass swings, and adaptation to New York hard courts shaped trader assessments of the matchup.
