Monterrey Open (Doubles): Kozyreva/Lumsden vs Joint/Xu

Game context
**Maya Joint and Xu Yifan entered the Monterrey Open doubles final with significant experience and momentum, boasting a combined 18 WTA doubles titles and strong recent hard-court results, including a quarterfinal win over Piter/Tjen.** Kozyreva/Lumsden arrived as in-form challengers after capturing back-to-back titles earlier in the summer (including Memphis) and defeating top seeds Danilina/Kato plus Eikeri/Gleason to reach the championship match on outdoor hard courts. The pair’s recent partnership success and Lumsden’s career-high ranking highlighted their competitive edge, yet Joint/Xu’s superior depth in decisive points and tiebreak execution ultimately prevailed 6-2, 4-6, 10-5. Trader sentiment reflected this contrast between Kozyreva/Lumsden’s hot streak and the veterans’ proven reliability in WTA 250 events.
