Ignacio Buse, the No. 3 seed and 22-year-old Peruvian ranked No. 36, entered the Winston-Salem Open final with one ATP title already secured in Hamburg this season after defeating Tommy Paul, while 24-year-old Briton Arthur Fery reached his first ATP Tour final following a Wimbledon semifinal run and a semifinal retirement win over James Duckworth. Both players competed on hard courts ahead of the US Open, with Fery rising toward a career-high ranking near No. 33 and Buse extending a breakthrough campaign that included strong recent hard-court results. Buse ultimately prevailed 6-3, 6-2 by controlling rallies with his forehand and converting key breaks, capping a week where he became the youngest champion in tournament history.
