US Open WTA: Ann Li vs Donna Vekic

Ann Li576Game context
Ann Li holds a modest edge over Donna Vekic in their US Open second-round matchup on hard courts, reflecting her higher WTA ranking (No. 28 vs. No. 39), stronger recent hard-court results, and 1-0 head-to-head lead from a straight-sets win in 2021. Li advanced comfortably past Antonia Ruzic in the opener while reaching the Monterrey semifinals earlier, whereas Vekic ended a five-match skid against Talia Gibson but committed nine double faults and needed three sets. Both players carry middling 2026 hard-court records, with Vekic showing inconsistency after earlier title success and Li benefiting from home-soil experience at Flushing Meadows. The contest figures as competitive given the surface and form fluctuations.
