Jets vs. Oilers

Game context
The Edmonton Oilers enter the 2026-27 preseason with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl healthy after McDavid extended a long point streak late last season, while roster depth and goaltending questions linger following a second-place Pacific finish. The Winnipeg Jets, coming off a 35-35-12 campaign in the Central, have added stability via Cole Perfetti’s five-year extension and Stuart Skinner’s two-year deal in net, alongside defensive prospects like Tyrel Bauer pushing for NHL time. Multiple Jets skaters remain sidelined near training camp, and both clubs face back-to-back preseason tilts starting September 19 at Rogers Place. Trader consensus on these early matchups reflects Oilers home-ice experience and star talent against Jets’ incremental roster improvements and uncertain lineup availability.
