Game context

Both teams sit near the bottom of the AL Central with the Tigers at 63-73 and Twins at 65-72, well out of playoff contention and playing out the string after poor late-August form (Tigers 2-8, Twins 3-7 in their last 10). The three-game series at Target Field features heavy injury lists on both sides, including outfielders Riley Greene and Byron Buxton plus starters Jack Flaherty and Joe Ryan, thinning lineups and bullpens. Probable starters Jackson Jobe and Taj Bradley post similar ERAs near 3.95, with the Twins holding a slight edge from home performance and recent series history. September call-ups and roster evaluations add minor variables but limited impact on immediate outcomes.
