Game context

The Miami Marlins (69-69) visit the Kansas City Royals (62-76) at Kauffman Stadium amid a late-season push where Miami clings to slim NL wild-card hopes four games back while the last-place Royals chase momentum. Kansas City enters on a seven-game home winning streak fueled by strong August offense, including Jac Caglianone’s power surge, and recent series wins, though their overall ERA sits at 4.68. The Marlins have dropped six of their last seven road games and face multiple injuries, including Xavier Edwards and Pete Fairbanks on the IL, offset by September recalls like Graham Pauley. Probable starters Tyler Phillips (3-6, 3.59 ERA) and Randy Dobnak (2-2, 1.92 ERA) set up a matchup where home advantage and recent form shape trader views on the outcome. Extreme heat around 100°F could also factor into bullpen usage.
