Boston Red Sox vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Game context
The Los Angeles Dodgers enter the July 31 interleague matchup at Dodger Stadium with the best record in baseball at 65-38 and a sizable lead in the NL West, reflecting superior depth and consistent performance across the rotation and lineup. The Boston Red Sox sit at 52-49 in third place in the AL East after a 15-game win streak that lifted them into the top 10 of recent power rankings, though they remain six-and-a-half games behind division leaders. Multiple injuries affect both clubs, including Red Sox infielders on the IL with forearm issues and Dodgers relievers sidelined, potentially influencing bullpen usage and lineup construction. Home-field advantage and overall roster strength position the Dodgers as the consensus favorite, while the Red Sox' recent momentum offers a pathway for competitiveness in a single-game setting.
