US Open ATP: Alexei Popyrin vs Alejandro Tabilo

Game context
Tabilo enters as the slight favorite in this US Open second-round matchup on hard courts, reflecting his stronger 2026 results (roughly 26-22 record) and No. 28 ranking compared to Popyrin’s 11-19 mark and No. 130 position. The Chilean advanced past Hanfmann while showing solid baseline consistency, whereas Popyrin produced a statement comeback win over Dimitrov after earlier-season struggles and mental-health challenges that prompted work with a mindset coach. Popyrin’s powerful serve and forehand create upset potential on this surface, supported by his sole prior H2H victory on clay, though Tabilo’s steadier form and higher peak Elo rating underpin the market’s modest edge for the higher-ranked player.
