Felix Balshaw466Game context
Felix Balshaw, the second seed in Winston-Salem qualifying and world No. 254, faces wild-card Sebastian Gorzny (No. 782) in the final qualifying round on outdoor hard courts. Balshaw, a 20-year-old right-hander with a one-handed backhand, advanced in straight sets on August 22 and has competed regularly on the Challenger circuit this summer. Gorzny, a 22-year-old American and former Texas Longhorn, reached the quarterfinals at the Lexington Challenger earlier in August but dropped a set while upsetting the fifth seed to reach this stage. The pair has no prior head-to-head record. The higher-ranked Balshaw enters with greater recent match volume and ranking proximity to the main draw, while Gorzny’s size and home-soil wild card provide underdog potential in a match that determines main-draw entry.
