US Open, Qualification WTA: Moyuka Uchijima vs Lucie Havlickova
Lucie Havlickova622
Moyuka Uchijima262Game context
Moyuka Uchijima enters the US Open women's qualifying second round as the No. 2 seed and world No. 99, fresh off a straight-sets win over former top-40 player Polona Hercog, while Lucie Havlickova advanced with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Elizara Yaneva. Uchijima, with a career-high ranking of No. 47 and stronger hard-court results this season including multiple wins in North American events, holds a clear experience edge over the 21-year-old Czech, whose best prior US Open qualifying result was a first-round exit and who lacks prior senior head-to-head history against Uchijima. Both players compete on outdoor hard courts in New York, where Uchijima's consistent recent form and seeding position her as the consensus favorite among traders, though Havlickova's aggressive baseline game and recent ITF success keep the matchup competitive in the best-of-three format.
