National Bank Open: Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina

Game context
Both players reached the National Bank Open final in Toronto after strong semifinal performances on hard courts. Second-seeded Elena Rybakina, ranked No. 2 with a 34-11 record and two titles in 2026 including the Australian Open, rallied from a set down to defeat Coco Gauff 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 for her first Toronto final appearance. Eighth-ranked Iga Swiatek, at 23-12 for the year and seeking her first final of 2026, overcame Elina Svitolina in a three-set semifinal. Rybakina leads their head-to-head after a straight-sets Australian Open quarterfinal win earlier this season. Rybakina’s recent three-set wins highlight physical resilience, while Swiatek’s improved movement and confidence on the surface shape the matchup dynamics ahead of the title decider.
