Game context
The St. Louis Cardinals enter their three-game series at Yankee Stadium on the strength of a convincing 13-7 road victory in the opener, powered by Alec Burleson’s three two-run homers and a late seven-run rally. The Cardinals sit at 56-57 while the Yankees hold a 63-50 mark, giving New York the edge in overall roster depth and home performance. Recent pitching matchups have featured Cardinals starters like Michael McGreevy and Hunter Dobbins against New York arms such as Cam Schlittler and Will Warren, with both clubs showing average offensive output entering the series. Weather at the ballpark and bullpen availability remain variables that could influence late-inning outcomes in the remaining games.
