Game context

The Los Angeles Dodgers enter their series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals at 82-57 and atop the NL West, but they have dropped six of eight after blowing late leads in back-to-back extra-inning and high-scoring losses. The Cardinals, at 70-70, have seized momentum with road wins featuring multi-run comebacks, home runs from Thomas Saggese and Leo Bernal, and strong bullpen work. Probable starters Tarik Skubal (strong ERA and strikeout totals) for the Dodgers and Quinn Mathews for the Cardinals set up a clear pitching edge for Los Angeles, though multiple Dodgers injuries in the rotation and bullpen, plus recent offensive struggles including Shohei Ohtani’s four-strikeout game, have weighed on market pricing. Trader consensus reflects the Dodgers’ superior season-long record and home advantage offset by the Cardinals’ hot streak and the favorite’s recent form.
